To SACR members,
As you will remember, we are trying to ring 75 quarter peals for our 75th
anniversary between 21st April and 20th October, and a peal in every tower.
This is how we are getting on:
Quarter peals
The latest total that I have is 43 quarters for which I have details. So we
are well over half way and a big thank you is due to all of you who have
contributed to this total. Please keep up the momentum and we should reach
our target in the specified time. If anyone needs help to ring something
special, please ask.
All of the quarters (except one from Inverness on 5th Aug) are listed on the
web-site if you want to check them and make sure that none are missing. They
are being picked up from the website "Campanophile" and from the Ringing
World. As we approach the target it will be important to keep a running
total, so please could you let me know when a new quarter has been rung from
September onwards. There is no need to re-type it - a copy of the RW
confirmation e-mail or a link to Campanophile would do.
Peals
On behalf of Angela Deakin, here is an update. The current total is 8 peals
scored and they are all listed on the website. Another 7 are definitely
arranged and we are not sure about the status for 3 towers. So well done to
all who took part and good luck for the coming attempts - our target looks
to be within sight.
20th October
This is the date for the striking competition and 75th anniversary social to
be held in Dunkeld. Further details will follow in good time but for now
please make sure that you have the date reserved and that your band is
getting its striking into good shape for the competition. It would be great
if we could have every band represented in the competition and we could look
back on 75 quarters and 18 peals all duly completed! (..not to forget our
hugely successful dinner in April, Ringing Across Scotland in June and the
forthcoming Towers Open Weekend on 25-27th August.)
Best Regards,
Chris Frye
