To: SACR tower correspondents and members,
As part of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary, there are a number of ringing activiies planned for this summer. Please could I draw your special attention to the following two:
1. 75 quarter peals.
We would like the association to ring 75 quarter peals during the course of the summer, between the dinner on 21st April and the social in October. This is a significant target, but achievable. If each tower could have one attempt per month we would be well on the way to getting to 75. So please could tower correspondents, captains and other ringing organisers plan in some quarter peal attempts in the coming months. Successful quarters should be sent to the Ringing World in the normal way and we will pick up the statistics from there. A suggested wording to include in the footnote is "For SACR 75th".
This is of course a good opportunity for ringers to ring a quarter in a method that is perhaps less familiar or that they get less chance to ring normally. If any band requires assistance to achieve a particular objective, please contact me and I will see what can be done to give the help needed.
2. 10th June. Ringing across Scotland.
On Sunday 10th June at 3pm we would like to have all of the change ringing bells in Scotland ringing at the same time. Please could towers note this time and date now and start to make arrangements to have, if they can, a band available on the day. In order to get all of the bells ringing at this time we may need to get a maximum turn-out of local ringers and have some coordination between towers that are relatively local to each other.
This would be a good chance to get some publicity both local and national. It could also be an opportunity to ring a peal or quarter peal. Please could tower correspondents let me know when any arrangements have been made so that we have a central view on what is planned. Pleae let me know also of any difficulties that may arise.
I hope that these will be enjoyable and beneficial contributions to our celebrations.

Chris Frye,
