Hi there,

If you have taken a look at the SACR website (http://www.sacr.org) within
the last few days, you will notice that it has gotten a bit smaller, but
that it also has some very current news and information.

Jonathan Frye and I are embarking on a new website framework that will make
keeping the site up to date a lot easier, including things like membership
lists and peal totals. In the meantime, we have put up a skeleton site
which gives you the important tower contact information plus the time
critical items like News and Events.

This site is very easy to keep up to date, and I am keen that it stay as
current as possible.

To this end, I need your help.

(have you guessed what comes next?)

Yes! I need news and information from every tower. And here's the deal: if
you can keep information coming my way, I will commit to getting it online
in a timely manner, and further, if we get a good enough information flow, I
will look into reviving the newsletter.

If every tower sends me one piece of news, a snippet or photo, each month,
we would have a website that is worth checking out every week for new stuff,
and a newsletter would be justified. That's it. 12 items of information
from each tower in the course of a year.

Some of you might be thinking: we just get on and ring, we don't do much
that's 'newsworthy'. I would say: we are a small community and we need to
keep in touch. One of your learners rings rounds for the 1st time? Send it
in! You had a good clean of the tower and found the Tower Captain's gold
earring lost 5 years ago? Send it in!

I can help more: not everyone has time to write a whole article, and not
everything you do can stretch to a whole article. You will see on the
website that I have built a section for small snippets of news (sort of like
the back page of The Ringing World only shorter). So if all you have is a
couple of lines, then send it a couple of lines. Also, if you want to do a
nice little write up, but feel a bit overwhelmed by it all, I can give you
some help if you contact me.

Finally, I love getting electronic submissions for the website, but I can
cope with things that come in the post. To prove it, here's my address:

If you are sending photos, please remember to put it in a sturdy envelope
(my local postie is a bit of a mangler), and you'll get them back faster if
you enclose SSAE.

Thank you very much for your cooperation

Cheers,
Tina Stoecklin
